DANVILLE, Va. - U.S. Senator Tim Kaine visited Danville’s River District Friday July 15th to hear from a cross-section of the region’s employers during a roundtable discussion at The Launch Place.
GENEDGE President/Executive Director Bill Donohue commented afterward, “It was an honor to meet with Senator Kaine on Friday as part of a Dan River Region Community Roundtable of leaders from industry, finance, education, economic development, and local government. Senator Kaine led a discussion focused on expanding the defense industrial base, particularly our Navy, repurposing Pell grants to support certification careers, better assisting small and post Angel businesses to successfully commercialize new products, including reshoring critical supply chains from overseas, helping industrial business owners and operators to prudently invest, raising productivity and the quality of jobs, how to better assist our veterans regarding healthcare, and helping regions to rebuild housing stock.”
“GENEDGE Alliance has and will continue to work on the challenges and opportunities for our manufacturing industries, which are strongly supported by the efforts of Senator Kaine through funding the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) based at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and other focused initiatives that benefit Virginia.”
