GENEDGE AWARDED STATE GRANT FOR PILOTING VIRGINIA’S DEFEND CUI PROGRAM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — GENEDGE received a $500,000 single-year award from the Office of Economic Adjustment for funding the initial pilot of the Virginia’s Defend CUI Program (DEFENDCUI-VA).

The program will provide high quality support for small and mid-sized DoD supply chain companies, which may be at risk to lose existing or future DoD contracts due to lack of required Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) management systems. GENEDGE will identify, select, and assist these companies in assessing their level of compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012, developing a plan to address identified gaps, and providing implementation support. The effort is targeted to improve DoD supply chain compliance and resilience through Cyber Risk Management.

Bill Donohue, President and Executive Director stated, “Through established DoD Supply Chain process and supplier networks, GENEDGE will assist Virginia companies by improving their awareness of the requirement, assessing their level of DFARS cyber compliance and to develop a plan to address vulnerabilities identified. The DEFENDCUI-VA effort is targeted to address a key need to improve the DoD supply chain by reducing cyber risk, while supporting and providing growth in a key market for the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
