Atlantic Constructors, Inc. Turns to GENEDGE for Strategic Business Management and Planning Services
Company Profile:
Atlantic Constructors, Inc., (ACI) is Central Virginia’s leading service and construction provider for commercial and industrial markets. ACI is outfitted with dual facilities, dubbed HQ1 and HQ 2, each totaling approximately 170,000 square feet. HQ 1 houses the company’s office and administrative complex as well as a fully automated fabrication shop. The recently completed HQ 2 is home to ACI’s Service Division as well as an additional massive fabrication space. Together, these facilities provide 250,000 dedicated to fabrication and assembly and support approximately 1,300 highly skilled employees which allows the company to efficiently provide complete turn-key solutions.
Challenge:
Atlantic Constructors had seen much success, but senior management aimed for continual growth and improvement. To enhance communication and leadership, they established a leadership group to provide transparency, improve communication, and foster engagement.
Over time, the employee base became less stable due to external pressures, retirements, and high turnover, leading to eroded processes and system continuity. Growth-driven operational demands strained capacity, and the company struggled to recruit and retain qualified employees.
Concerns arose about the alarming rate of workforce loss, which created a skills and knowledge gap. The departure of seasoned personnel resulted in a significant loss of institutional knowledge, with no formal process to capture and transfer this knowledge to new workers.
Results:
Leadership sought GENEDGE’s assistance to identify gaps and develop a strategic growth management plan to mitigate attrition and get the business operations on track. GENEDGE conducted a Competitiveness Review Discovery Assessment, introducing the team to technical training, consulting, and technology transfer initiatives.
Through a multistage assessment, GENEDGE provided strategies for workforce development, communication planning, and operational alignment and efficiency. So far this has resulted in this project generated $10,000,000.00 in new sales and retain $500,000.00 in cost savings, resulting in $15,675,000.00 in investment, as well as the creation of twenty (20) and retention of twenty (20) jobs.
