FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Martinsville/Richmond/Newport News, Va.—GENEDGE is honored to be part of the Alliance to Build Better Medicines, dedicated to strengthening the Richmond-Petersburg region’s pharmaceutical manufacturing cluster.
As winners of the national Build Back Better Regional Challenge, the Alliance will receive a $52.9 million Build Back Better grant—1 of only 21 proposals to be funded across the United States as announced last week by The White House.
During the September 8th event at Brightpoint Community College, Governor Youngkin mentioned the critical role between public and private partnerships and company expansions to combat Virginia’s pharmaceutical supply challenges.
“GENEDGE is looking forward to help build and continually support this supply chain utilizing our experience and expertise in Supply Chain Development and Cybersecurity to develop Virginia’s capacity to support the Central Virginia growing pharmaceutical cluster,” said Bill Donohue, President & Executive Director GENEDGE Alliance.
The BBBRC award will allow GENEDGE, as part of the coalition, to further expand on previous investments that are building capacity and capability in the combined region. The funding will be essential in securing this critical supply chain for our national health and security, and this approach is already becoming a model for regional economic development.
